Based in the Adelaide Hills, Whisker & Roots was created from a passion for helping pets thrive through positive experiences that support their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Whether it's through thoughtfully selected products, enrichment activities, calming spaces, or unique experiences, everything we do is designed to help pets live their best lives.
We focus on enrichment-based approaches that encourage curiosity, confidence, relaxation, and joy. From puzzle toys and sensory experiences to our much-loved Zen Den sessions, we're passionate about creating opportunities for pets to learn, explore, and unwind.
We know that every pet is different. That's why we take the time to understand individual needs, personalities, and preferences, helping pet owners find solutions that work for their unique companions.
At Whisker & Roots, we're more than a pet business, we're a community of animal lovers who believe that enrichment isn't a luxury; it's an essential part of a happy, healthy life.

Emily + Brandon + Maisie
The Bosses
Our business is proudly family run.
While Emily is the face you'll usually see in the shop, The Zen Den and the events we attend wouldn't be possible without Brandon's support. From towing trailers and handling the heavy lifting to enduring the endless stream of stories of cats and dogs from a day in the shop!
Maisie happily tags along most days to the shop, her most favourite part is meeting all the dogs that come in. She also enjoys making up enrichment games at home for her dog Basil!
Basil, Bean, Odin and Perry.
Basil, Bean, Odin, and Perry are all in their senior years (13–14 years old), but they still keep us on our toes. They are much loved members of our family and the inspiration behind everything we do.
Basil has taught us so much over the years. As a dog with generalised anxiety, his journey has led us to learn from both our own research and the expertise of trusted pet professionals. Through him, we've discovered that every pet is unique and that there are many ways to help dogs like Basil live happy, fulfilling lives.
The cats enjoy the lifestyle they firmly believe all cats deserve! Despite their age, their playful kitten-like moments still shine through. Their unique personalities and quirky charm have won over many self proclaimed "cat sceptics" over the years.
We're incredibly grateful to have these boys in our lives. Without them, Whisker & Roots and The Zen Den may never have come to be.
